Synthesize an Acceleration Time History to Satisfy a Shock Response Spectrum

The software in the zip file was updated on December 21, 2012.

A time history consisting of a series of damped sinusoids can be synthesized to satsify a shock response spectrum (SRS).

A Matlab script for this is given in: damped_sine_syn.zip.

The main script is:  damped_sine_syn.m.

The remaining scripts are supporting functions.

The initial synthesis is performed using a damped sine function series.  The time history is the reconstructed as a wavelet series so that the corresponding velocity and displacement time histories each has a zero net value.

The resulting acceleration time history can be used to represent pyrotechnic shock for a modal transient analysis.

The sample rate for the synthesis should be at least ten times higher than the maximum SRS frequency.

The sample rate should also be at least ten times higher than the natural frequency of the highest mode included in the following modal transient analysis.
