Howard A. Gaberson (1931-2013) was a shock and vibration specialist with more than 45 years of dynamics experience. He was with the U.S. Navy Civil Engineering Laboratory and later the Facilities Engineering Service Center from 1968 to 2000, mostly conducting dynamics research.
Gaberson specialized in shock and vibration signal analysis and has published more than 100 papers and articles.

This reference includes images of Gaberson’s famous blower shock test. Note that LW12 is the only blower which survived. Gaberson concluded that a pseudo velocity of 150 in/sec was the failure threshold for the blowers.

Dr. Gaberson has also applied his skills to ornithology.
He observed that birds have either an instinctive or learned understanding of the importance of shock velocity as they extract food from shells.
